Thank you for your interest in researching your family’s surnames for a possible Jewish
connection. Our archivists at the Italian Jewish Cultural Center of Calabria (IjCCC) are
ready to help you.
Rabbi Barbara Aiello, along with Professor Vincenzo Villella and Dr. Enrico Mascaro can
initiate a search that includes study of Inquisition records from Sicily and Calabria,
especially since many Jewish families with roots in Calabria began their Jewish journey in
Sicily and in Spain. We continue our search through Nazi deportation records from
Sicilian and Calabrian towns and villages to camps in Germany, Poland and Italy.
Should we find evidence of your surname in these Jewish records, we will provide you
with a complete list, translation and photocopies of this information including the sources
from which they were gathered.

In order to initiate the process we require a list of family information,
including names, towns and professions in the following format:

- Maternal line: parents/grandparents/great grandparents/beyond if possible
- Names – first names and surnames
- Names of villages/towns in Sicily/Calabria (Note: If you have never seen the
name of the town in print and/or if you are spelling the name phonetically,
please indicate this.) - Professions of these families
- Paternal line: parents/grandparents/great grandparents/beyond if possible
- Same as above
We require a deposit of $70 USD to initiate the first hour of work. From
this first hour we will be able to determine if the name(s) appear in any of
our documents or lists, and we will inform you immediately. The Initial
Order/Deposit is non-refundable.
You can pay your initial $70 deposit online with Credit Card or PayPal with
the "Pay Now" button below or by mail with a US check.
If we are successful at finding your family’s surnames in our records, we
will continue our work at the rate of $70/hour. Our clients can anticipate
that a search will take 5-6 hours and we will invoice you by email.
